In biotechnology research processes oftentimes bioreactors are used. The bioreactor is a habitat for microorganisms like yeast or bacteria cells which is higly automated and needs high amounts of process control.
The building up of foam in such a process is a rather rare problem. However it can produce serious aftermath: building up of foam can lead to clogging of filters and therewith lead to overpressure in the system that can damage the glass components.
Conventional foam sensors are invasive
The conventional foam detection ist either done by optical controls or through a previously installed foam sensor. However, because foam sometimes appears unexpected or at a late state of the experiment, a foam sensor can not be installed any more. The optical foam detection system by reseatech works around this problem by providing an optical sensor solution that be added while the process is already running. Also the dispensed volume can be preset and monitored by a PC.
